National Arts Council Arts Education Programme 2011-2012
The National Arts Council Arts Education Programme (NAC-AEP) develops initiatives that advocate the value and importance of arts education and appreciation among the young in schools. It connects the arts community with the education sector and supports the professional development of artists. NAC-AEP aims to provide a pool of quality arts education programmes for schools so as to enhance and develop a life long interest in the arts from young.
The Children’s Theatre and Performing Arts Preparatory Programme
Starting in 2012, TLC will be offering the Children’s Theatre and Performing Arts Preparatory Programme to preschool children aged 4-6 years old, a certificate program developed by TLC that adopts the Trinity Guildhall guidelines and syllabuses.
The Children’s Theatre and Performing Arts Preparatory Programme is a child-centred programme that introduces children to the world of theatre and performing arts. It aims to provide high quality experiences and progressive educational outcomes, leading to the Trinity Guildhall Young Performers Certification. The programme syllabuses provide a structured framework designed to encourage the progressive development of integrated performance and communication skills over time. It is designed to develop confidence, group interaction skills, language skills, strong imagination and a sense of achievement in young people. It also encourages children to develop performance, musical and communication skills as they create and explore stories, songs, roles and situations through the imaginative and integrated use of movement, music, voice and artwork. The emphasis is on overall performance rather than a prescriptive formula which helps to promote children's social-emotional competencies.
Trinity Guildhall offers an unrivalled choice of qualifications for students in the performing arts. To provide a sense of progression, the Young Performers certificates are available at three levels – Bronze (4 years old), Silver (5 years old) and Gold (6 years old). Trinity Guildhall’s certificates are known throughout the world, and are officially recognized by educational authorities in many countries.
